My Positivity Piedmont Instagram account

Social Media benefits my mental health in a variety of ways. One of the benefits of social media is that I am able to share and post the content I create. A lot of this content is mental-health related. One type of content includes sharing the blogs I have written on my Facebook page. Some of these blogs include “How My Halloween Costume Helped Me Accept My Disabilities”, “How to Make Social Media Beneficial to Your Mental Health”, “What ifs: A Whole Different Perspective”, “I Only Have Time for Self-Acceptance”, etc. Sharing my content is a great way for me to show my friends and family the blogs I have written and hopefully help others in the process.

During freshman year of college, I also created mental health videos and posted it to my Facebook Page. The first video I made about my mental health was opening up about my OCD. I received a lot of support from this video. This helped me feel accepted and led me to become the mental health advocate I am today.

I have also created different social media pages and accounts including “Nicole’s Creativity”, which is on Facebook and “Positivity Piedmont”, which is on Instagram. I share my artwork and blogs on “Nicole’s Creativity.” By creating an Instagram account for Positivity Piedmont, I have developed a greater appreciation for what students are doing to make Piedmont a positive place. I am grateful for the support I have received on both “Nicole’s Creativity” and “Positivity Piedmont”.

It is also beneficial when I see other people post mental health related content on social media. I not only like that the content is positive or validating, but also that there are other people out there like me who are passionate about mental health. I like that there are others who want to help people who may be struggling.

Finally, I like following “To Write Love on Her Arms’” social media accounts. “To Write Love on Her Arms” is a mental health nonprofit that helps people struggling with self-harm, depression, addiction and suicide. I hope to get an internship with this organization after I graduate. Following “To Write Love on Her Arms’” Instagram account has allowed me to learn more about their internship program and I like seeing the content they post.

I hope that social media has helped you in your mental health journey. Comment below how social media has helped you in your life.
